At Gabriel’s Light, we work with our youth ambassadors to understand the warning signs of suicide and how to help people at risk. It is extremely heartwarming to see our youth ambassadors put their knowledge to use in their school and lives. If you’ve been a follower of Gabriel’s Light, you already know how important it is to talk about suicide with your kids. But is it enough to have “the talk” just once and assume our kids will come to us with their feelings in the future?

In our second year since founding Gabriel’s Light, despite the continued challenges of a global pandemic, we are proud of the great strides made towards achieving our mission to prevent youth suicide through education, cyber safety, and kindness campaigns. We are driven by the startling statistics and understand that young people are suffering from increased mental health problems.

World Kindness Day is celebrated on November 13th every year

A study from Born This Way Foundation, an organization co-founded by Lady Gaga, shows that Kindness has a huge impact of overall wellbeing.

Suicide among young people is the second-leading cause of death. Talking with your child about suicide can help them understand depression and other mental illnesses as diseases, give words to their feelings, and be able to recognize warning signs in their friends and classmates.

We are thrilled that Freedom Boat Club Chicago chose to highlight our organization through their new initiative, Freedom Gives. They launched a new boat named Gabriel’s Light and introduce others to our mission.
