Become a Youth Ambassador
We have learned that one of the best ways to prevent youth suicide is by educating and involving young people. Kids and teens are likely to exhibit warning signs to friends. With so many youth suffering from mental health difficulties and experiencing bullying, our programs aim to increase awareness and help provide the tools, support, and community for those who are struggling.
YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAMS
Our Youth Ambassador Programs allow tweens and teens to earn volunteer hours, practice skills, and contribute to an important cause. We welcome and rely on collaboration and support from others to achieve our mission. We offer different sessions focusing on various skills, such as hosting a fundraiser and social media campaigning.
Through our program, tweens and teens can:
Earn volunteer hours
Gain and practice valuable skills
Build a resume for high school, college, and job applications
Satisfy school or religious service hour requirements
Contribute to an important cause
Make a difference for themselves and others
We offer several sessions each year. Learn more about our current sessions and sign up for them below!
CURRENT SESSIONS
YOUTH FUNDRAISING
We welcome kids and teens to get involved with Gabriel’s Light by helping us fundraise. Through micro fundraisers, young people learn about our organization, help us spread awareness, learn organizational skills, devote themselves to a worthy cause, and raise money to support our free programs.
TEEN MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID
teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) is a program for teens operated by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in partnership with Born This Way Foundation. Certified instructors teach teens in grades 10-12 how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health in their friends and peers.
SOCIAL MEDIA FOR GOOD
Social Media For Good is a social media program where teens learn the basics of social media marketing, campaigning, and branding. With the help of our instructor, they will put their new skills to work and develop a social media campaign promoting positive messaging and mental health awareness.

Plan a Fundraiser
Our Youth Ambassadors have learned how to Plan & Host Fundraisers for the past three summers. Our summer ambassadors are ages eight and up. Participants learn about the importance of mental wellness and kindness. Using the worksheets provided, they conceive an idea to spread awareness, raise money, and then execute their fundraisers. Bake sales, lemonade stands, yard work, bracelet sales, tie-dye, and car washes- our Youth Ambassadors have exceeded our expectations with their enthusiasm, dedication, ingenuity, creativity, and professionalism.
Past Session:
Social Media
High School students are eligible for our social media Youth Ambassador sessions. Together, they learn about branding, the creation of strategic campaigns, and cross-channel communication. They use their own accounts to execute campaigns and reach peers with potentially life-saving messages focused on suicide prevention, mental health, and kindness campaigns. Our amazing Social Media Youth Ambassadors have reached thousands of young people.
